PRESENT: SHARI, FR. TIM, SUE, SUZANNE, COLIN (Minutes)

  1. Reviewed the November 11 presentation on abuse by nuns
    1. Sub-committee continues to meet to plan future events on this topic.
    2. Shari distributed copies of Steve's PowerPoint to those who requested it.
    3. Sr. Catherine expressed concern about the accuracy of some of Steve's comments.

            1. Suzanne said she will be in touch with her to determine the accuracy issues.
            2. We all agreed that VOTF needs to do what we can to resolve these issues.
          4. Other nuns attended and were affected in a positive way.
          5. Survivors expressed gratitude for the day and found it healing.
          6. Dr. Larson presented very well.
        2. Reviewed the November 19th Apology Service
          1. Very positive response.
          2. New people attended.
          3. A lot of healing happened.
          4. St. Rose of Lima might be willing to host an apology service next year.
        3. March 1 event with Abbot Klaasen
          1. Colin will contact the Basilica to ensure that the arrangements are in place.
          2. Colin will contact other Benedictine possibilities of publicity.
        4. Financial report
          1. $262 contributions since July 1st.
          2. $100 is designated for VFRG.
          3. Suzanne will send email request for donations to our membership.
        5. Goal 1 Report: VFRG
          1. Loyola offered to help provide spiritual direction for victims of abuse.
          2. January training will go forward with Pat Dale organizing. This will be open to SC members and others who are interested in helping.
          3. Colin offered to videotape the training.
          4. Fr. Tim will invite Fr. Krenik and Fr. Papesh to see if they are interested in attending
        6. Jack and Susan Larson represented VOTF at the SAPN Conference
        7. Web site
          1. Goal 1,2,3 statements need to be rewritten.
          2. Shari will do Goal 1, Fr. Tim will do Goal 2, Suzanne will do Goal 3.
          3. Suzanne will contact web master with these and other updates.
        8. Colin will work on an update of the causes and effects of abuse to use as a handout.
        9. Suzanne shared a copy of the Journal of Religion & Abuse.
        10. Suzanne will host a December 31 home mass/party at 10:30 a.m.
